Keys to the Kingdom Part #1

Keys to the Kingdom Part #1

Jesus has given His Church the keys of the Kingdom, but a key only helps when we know how to use it. The first key is knowing the King. In Matthew 16, Peter declares that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the living God. The Kingdom begins with a relationship with Jesus, not simply knowing about Him. Jesus wants to be Lord of our lives.

The Word of God is another key because we cannot use what we do not know. Scripture gives us truth, promises, wisdom, correction, and direction, so believers must know God’s Word for themselves. Prayer is also a Kingdom key, not just as a way to speak to God, but as an opportunity to listen for His direction and respond in obedience. Finally, faith allows us to look beyond our circumstances and see that God is greater than what we face. Like David facing Goliath, faith does not deny the giant, it magnifies God.
